Mendel Mozes, who has been with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for more than 30 years, sailed yesterday on the S.S. Jerusalem for Israel to take up permanent residence there. Until the occupation of Warsaw by the Nazis, Mr. Mozes had been director of the JTA in Poland. He came to the United States in 1940 where he continued his work for the JTA.
Prior to his departure, he was honored at a gathering attended by more than 200 writers and persons active in Jewish affairs. Principal speakers at the gathering included B. Shefner, noted Jewish columnist of the Jewish Daily Forward; Boris Smolar, editor-in-chief of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency; Dr. I. Schwarzbart, former member of the Polish Parliament and leader of the World Jewish Congress, and others.
