The Israel Supreme Court rejected today a legal move by the Herut Party to invalidate a government order dissolving the Jerusalem municipal council and setting up a temporary commission to administer the municipal functions.
The court ruled that the Minister of Interior is authorized to appoint such a commission when an elected municipal council fails to function due to the absence of a political agreement over the office of mayor.
