President Eisenhower will dedicate the new temple of the Washington Hebrew Congregation, oldest in the nation’s capital, on May 6, Announcement of the President’s participation was made at the White House.
The Congregation was founded over a century ago under special Act of Congress, in the Administration of President Franklin Pierce, by Commodore Uriah P. Levy. Now the largest congregation in Washington, its spiritual leader is Rabbi Norman Gerstenfeld.
