British Jews Join Commemoration for Nazi Camp Inmates

In a message addressed to the Gentral Council of Jews in Germany on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the liberation of the Belsen concentration camp, the British Section of the World Jewish Congress said it joined “in commemorating the tens of thousands who fell victims to Nazi persecution.”

The message, signed by Noah Barou, chairman of the European executive, and A.L. Easterman, political director, continued: “Jews in many lands will be with you today in their remembrance. They associate themselves with the appreciative tributes to the valiant British troops who liberated the Jewish survivors from Nazi martyrdom and solemnly renew their pledge to resist and combat all manifestations of discrimination and persecution, which caused the annihilation of countless innocent victims of Nazi barbarity in Belsen and elsewhere, and to preserve in their struggle against oppression and reaction whenever they arise.”
