The New York advisory board of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith scored the New York State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development for deciding to go ahead with plans to hold its 1955 convention at an Adirondack resort which discriminates against Jewish guests during the resort season. The ADL action came in the form of a resolution voted at a meeting of the advisory board.
The educators’ meeting scheduled for May 15-17 is to be at the Lake Placid Club, Lake Placid. New York, ADL officials said I was the resort’s policy to bar Jews as guests during the summer season, but not during the off-season when it accommodates meetings and conventions. The issue came to public attention last month when Dr. Alice V. Keliher, nationally-known educator and Professor of Education at New York University, withdrew as a conference speaker because of the locale.
