A new chair in Semitic languages and literature has been established at Yale University by Louis M. Rabinowitz, prominent philanthropist of New York City, it was announced this week-end by Edgar S. Furniss, Provost of Yale University. An appointment to the new professorship will be made in the near future, according to Mr. Furniss. Mr. Rabinowitz in 1952 was a recipient of a Yale Medal.
Through the Foundation bearing his name, Mr. Rabinowitz 10 years ago established a unit in Judaica Research at Yale. This institute of historical and philological studies has supervised publication by the Yale University Press of the Judaica Series, which of the Yale Judaicia Series will be published this month.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
