A survey of the Jewish community of the nearby town of Fairfield has revealed that the breadwinners of the 500 Jewish families are chiefly professionals, owners and executives, but with a go hilly number of semiskilled workers.
The professionals, the survey indicated, number 134, the owners, managers and executives total 246 and the semi-skilled workers come to 139. Included in the latter category are 34 factory workers and five tack drivers. Although Fairfield Jews make up only one-eighth of the Jewish population of the Bridgeport area, they supply almost one-third of the funds raised for the Bridgeport United Jewish Campaign. The survey, carried out by the Jewish community center of Bridgeport in cooperation with Fairfield Jews, also found that the 500 families had 919 children.
