Dr. Israel Chipkin, vice-president of the Jewish Education Committee, died here last night at the age of 64. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
Dr. Chipkin spent his entire life in educational work, serving as a teacher, principal, administrator and advisor in a variety of Jewish schools and organizations. He was the author of a number of books, reports and articles on various aspects of education. He also edited several publications and was associated with the Reconstructionist Movement.
Born in Vilna, he was brought to this country as an infant and was educated in New York City schools, including City College of New York. He also attended the Jewish Theological Seminary, Teachers College, American School for Oriental Studies and Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
