The acquisition of a 16-acre site to relocate the Hebrew Theological College and to initiate a liberal arts college was announced today by Dr. Oscar Z. Fasman, president of the College. Dr. Fasman also announced a $5,000,000 campaign for the purpose of constructing all necessary buildings on the new college campus.
Located in Chicago since 1922, the College will move to its new site in Skokie, Ill. Groundbreaking exercises will take place about April 1, 1956 and classes for Jewish studies will commence on the new campus for the fall session of 1956. The liberal arts college will not be opened until September, 1957. The program in this school will emphasize studies in education with the view toward ultimately establishing a graduate school in education.
