The European and North African executive of the Confederation of General Zionists has urged the World Zionist Executive to reconsider its decision to call the next World Zionist Congress in April. A cable from the General Zionist body expressed doubt that the internal problems of the Zionist movement could be dealt with at a congress held in April.

The cable urged that the congress be held in July, as originally scheduled, and that an immediate study of basic Zionist problems be initiated in preparation for a July session. It said that the movement could not be reorganized on the basis of an “abstract formula.”

Meanwhile, reports from various parts of Europe indicate opposition to a world congress in April, which they feel will meet only the needs of the Israeli parties. Most Zionist parties on the Continent feel that the congress should not be given over exclusively to Israel’s problems. If the Zionist movement is to continue to serve as a powerful-support to Israel it must put its own house in order, these parties feel.
