The World Jewish Congress today laid the problem of the Arab world boycott campaign against Jewish firms before the United Nations Economic and Social Council session here.
In a memorandum, Dr. F.R. Bienenfeld, head of the Congress legal department, called the Arab boycott campaign a “serious matter” which may prove to be a “grave impediment to international trading in the future.” He urged the Economic and Social Council to consider and institute counter-measures.
He charged that the boycott campaign by a committee of representatives of the Arab states violates the UN Charter which forbids discrimination for reasons of race or religion. Dr. Bienenfeld insisted that the WJC demand for protection against such discrimination not only affects Jews but peoples of all races and religions.
