The Senate passed a bill to strike a medal commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis. The measure, which has been sent to the House, provides that 3,000 medals be struck and furnished to Brandeis University.
Another bill passed by the Senate provides for the reimbursement of $2,500 to Saul Lehman, the head of a New York printing firm, who advanced this sum to the government to help pay for the gold medal award to Dr. Jonas Salk, discoverer of the anti-polio vaccine. Mr. Lehman agreed to put up $2,500 to pay for the medal after learning that Congress had adjourned last year without making provisions to finance it.
