Carl Sherman, former Attorney General of the State of New York and leading figure in the Jewish community, died here yesterday. He was 65. Mr. Sherman served as chairman of the executive of the American Jewish Congress for a number of years. He was also active in the Zionist movement and was a director of the Jewish National Fund. Mr. Sherman was a member of a commission, representing the American Minorities Committee, which investigated the treatment of religion and churches in Mexico.
