An export and marketing company for ethrogim (citrons) under Israel Government auspices has been set up to streamline the operations of II firms which export ethrogim to the United States, West Europe, Africa and Australia.

At the same time, it was revealed that 35,000 ethrogim had been sent abroad last year, netting more than $130,000. A 20 per cent jump in sales is hoped for this year and negotiations with the Soviet Union for the resumption of such exports–which had been substantial before World War II are now in progress.

Meanwhile, 30,000 ethrogim are already on their way to the United States in anticipation of the Sukkot holidays. The shipment was preceded by a special ceremony in which rabbis selected the ethrogim for the U.S. shipment. Another 5,000 for the United States market are expected to be shipped shortly.
