A resolution calling upon the United States Government and the United Nations to use their influence to bring about direct peace negotiations between Egypt and Israel was adopted today at a national emergency conference of the Rabbinical Council of America, central body of Orthodox rabbis.

Another resolution expressed “distress and dismay” over the reported mass deportation of Jews from some areas of the Soviet Union to Siberia. “We call upon our government and all the nations of the United Nations, as well as upon righteous people everywhere to rise up and denounce, and do everything in their power to stop these brutal deportations,” the resolution states.
