Rabbi Andre Ungar, who came to this country two years ago to minister to the Reform Congregation of Port Elizabeth, has been-informed by the Interior Ministry that he must leave the country by January 15. His temporary residence permit has been withdrawn.

Although no reason was given for the government’s action, it is believed due to the attacks by Rabbi Ungar on government policy. The rabbi voiced his opinions from the pulpit. In the press and at public meetings.

Rabbi Ungar had already announced his acceptance of a post abroad and his decision to leave South Africa at the end of January.
