Eisenhower Lauds Ort’s Vocational Training Program for Jews

The ORT’s vocational training activities in behalf of Jews in various countries, was lauded today by President Eisenhower in a message addressed to the American ORT Federation on the occasion of its annual convention, which opens here January 12. The President describe the ORT program as a “splendid example of effective, neighborly service” and commended its “practical efforts in the field of human understanding and well-being.

President Itzhak Ben Zvi of Israel also addressed a message to the convention, lauding the organization for its educational and vocational training activities in Israel. President Ben Zvi’s message contained an appeal for increased aid to meet the requirements of new waves of immigration. More than 500 delegates from all parts of the country, representing a membership of 75,000, will attend the convention, it was announced today by George J. Mintzer, convention chairman.
