Revenue Reached 815, 000, 000 Pounds Last Year, Israel Reports

Israel’s government revenue during the 1955-56 fiscal year was 815, 000, 000 pounds, it was announced here today. This is 28 times the figure for 1948-49, the first year of its independent existence as a state.

The report said that 69 percent of the receipts came from local sources, of which 153, 000, 000 pounds were from income tax alone. Income from abroad, which provided only two percent of Israel’s first budget, amounted to 31 percent of the latest one.
