Israel has been invited to participate in German trade fairs, Minister of Commerce Pinchas Saphir informed Parliament today. He revealed, however, that the Israel Government has not yet reached a decision on the invitation.

From Bonn it was reported today that the Arab states, in the person of Dr. Raif Bellama, Lebanese deputy secretary general of the Arab League, again threatened the West German Government with recognition of East Germany if Bonn establishes diplomatic relations with Israel, Dr. Bellama said any such move by Bonn would be “an unfriendly act” toward the Arab states.

Israel will for the first time be represented at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, the annual meeting place in October of German publishers, book dealers and book lovers.
