The Cairo radio today attacked Jordanian leaders as “traitors who should be hung,” charging them with loss of the Palestine war in 1948. It was Egypt’s most bitter attack to date on another Arab League member.

Saudi Arabia and Jordan today issued a joint communique announcing that travel by Moslem pilgrims to Mecca via the Gulf of Akaba was undesirable because of the “current situation” in the gulf. The communique referred to the presence of Israeli naval craft in the area described as “Arab territorial waters.”
