The Saudi Arabian delegation, in a letter to the Security Council today, charged two violations of its country’s air space and one of its territorial waters by Israeli military craft. The letter said that on June 12th six Israeli military planes carried out maneuvers over Saudi Arabian territorial waters in the Gulf of Akaba, and that later the same day another military plane violated the air space in the same area.
It was further charged that on June 13, Israeli torpedo boats patrolled the Saudi Arabian side of the gulf, spotlighting coastal positions with their searchlights. The letter, as all previous Saudi Arabian communications, did not ask for Security Council action. The Israeli delegation has characterized previous charges as false.
