Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, left New York by air today to confer with Israel leaders on the latest developments in the Jewish refugee situation and to discuss UJA plans for the speediest possible absorption of the newcomers.
Before arriving in Israel, Rabbi Friedman will stop off briefly in Paris where he will meet with officials of the Joint Distribution Committee to discuss the problems of that agency in coping with the new flow of Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe, Egypt and North Africa.
