A new graduate school for advanced study and research in the medical sciences will open this Fall at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, it was announced today by Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University.
The establishment of the graduate school has been made possible through an initial gift of $750,000 by Samuel H. Golding and his son, Jerrold R. Golding, of New York. This is the largest individual gift that has been made to the College of Medicine. The new school will serve as a perpetual memorial to the late Sue Golding, Samuel Golding’s wife, who died two years ago, and will be known as the Sue Golding Graduate Division of Medical Sciences. It is believed to be the first graduate school in the country named for a woman.
The Golding Graduate Division of Medical Sciences will provide advanced study and research training in the medical sciences leading to the Ph. D. degree. Students to qualify must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing; there are no geographic limitations. The school will have facilities for advanced study and research in anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology, pathology, pharmacology and physiology.
