A new study of the Jewish population of the Los Angeles area will be launched this fall in an effort to pinpoint the rapid shifting of the community during the last six years. The study will be undertaken by the Research Service Bureau, an agency of the Los Angeles Jewish Community Council, and will be the first since 1951, when the Jewish population was estimated at 323,000. It is now believed to exceed 400,000.
I. H. Prinzmetal, chairman of the bureau, said that “we expect the forthcoming study will tell us much more about the precise pattern of growth and about the long-term trends that we may wish to utilize as a tool in community planning.”
