Negotiations to expand Israeli-Rumanian trade are expected to begin next month in a generally improved atmosphere of relations between the two countries, it was reliably reported today.
The talks are expected to result in an increase both of types of commodities traded and the present level of about $2,500, 000 annually in barter trade. Observers also expressed the hope that the trade talks would bring a further improvement in Israeli-Rumanian relations which currently reflect the general liberalization in that satellite.
Some observers here said that Rumania’s attitude toward Israel started to improve after the recent ousting of the Jewish Communist leader Kishinevski from the Political Burea of the Rumanian Communist Party. The full text of the deliberations leading to the ouster showed that Kishinevski had been accused of maintaining contacts with Anna Pauker, the Jewish former Foreign Minister of Rumania.
