“Journal de Geneve, a leading Swiss daily newspaper, today confirmed a report from Jerusalem that West Germany will extend diplomatic recognition to Israel despite Arab pressure and protest. The paper said that the German-Israel diplomatic relations will be established in November.
West German observers here said the missions to be exchanged would be a Charge d’Affaires level to eliminate “certain unpleasant protocol formalities,” such as playing the German national anthem, “Deutschland Ueber Alles,” at accreditation ceremonies.
