Thirty-five leaders of Jewish thought and culture from the United States, Canada, South America and Europe and forty from Israel will take part in a Jewish ideological conference to open at Jerusalem University campus tomorrow, Zalman Shazar, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, announced today.

The Americans comprise the largest delegation and will furnish about one-third of the foreign visitors. Professors Mordecai Kaplan, Salo Baron, Oscar Handlin and Marie Syrkin are included among the delegates. Premier David Ben Gurion, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, Moshe Sharett and Abba Eban will address the week-long conference.

Mr. Shazar stated that four subjects will be discussed at the gathering: 1. Jewry in the struggle between East and West; 2. The Jewish people’s relationship to Israel; 3. Free Jewish communities and the assimilation question; 4. The Jewish individual’s duty to his community.
