The new Republic of Ghana is interested in obtaining technicians and similar experts to help build up the new nation, Kogo Botsio, Ghana’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, said today at a press conference.
It was learned meanwhile that Israeli Government officials were developing plans for a technical aid program for Ghana along the lines of United States technical aid to Israel. It was noted that Ehud Avriel, the first Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, had been director general of the Prime Minister’s office and in that capacity, he headed the Israeli group which made the initial arrangements for receiving American technical aid.
Although Israel has been sending technical aid experts to Burma for several years, Ghana will be the first country to receive Israeli technical aid which will incorporate what Israel has learned from American technical aid experts. Mr. Botsto told the press conference, which marked the end of a ten-day Israeli tour by a Ghana governmental delegation, that Ghana expects to increase exports of raw material to Israel and to boost imports of Israel industrial products.
A group of Ghana trade union leaders will visit Israel in the near future, it was disclosed today after a meeting of the Ghana delegation with Histadrut leaders. The union leaders will remain in Israel three months. A second delegation will be mad up of workers from a Transport Cooperative, who will study methods of similar cooperatives in Israel.
