Dr. Franz Goldmann, Associate Professor of Medical Care at Harvard University School of Public Health, has been appointed director of the Health Services Coordination Study of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, it was announced today by Herbert R. Abeles of Newark, president.

The Health Services Coordination Study will continue for three years and is supported by a grant of $185, 000 from the Public Health Service of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. The study will analyze major coordinated community patterns for providing hospital and other services for the chronically ill and evaluate the effectiveness of each.

It will examine recent experiments in large cities throughout the United States to coordinate the services of the general hospital with the resources of other medical and related facilities. These facilities include chronic care institutions, homes for the aged, nursing homes, family service agencies, home medical care projects and vocational rehabilitation agencies.
