Ben Zvi Agrees to Run for Second Term; Herut in Opposition

President Itzhak Ben Zvi announced this week-end that he would accept the nomination for a second term as Chief Executive of Israel. He has the support of eight pro-government and two opposition parties. The Herut, which offered him its support if he was to renounce his adherence to the Mapai Party, decided to run an opposition candidate when he said that although as President he acted as a non-party man he would not break with a party in which he had been active for 50 years The Communists have not offered to support his candidacy and are expected to abstain in the balloting.
