The situation in the Middle East “as a whole is still dangerous,” Henry Cabot Lodge, chairman of the United States delegation here, declared today in a “United Nations Day” message which pointed out that, in spit of present tensions, the UN “deserves the support and understanding of all our citizens.”
Mr. Lodge’s statement was one of many made here today in observance of “United Nations Day.” Celebrated each year on October 24, this day marks the anniversary of the day the Charter went into effect on October 24, 1945.
In Israel, according to a report issued here, UN Day was marked with special radio broadcasts and special UN materials distributed in schools, collective settlements, and public places.
