Israel Cabinet Approves Supplementary Budget of $40,000,000

Finance Minister Levi Eshkol, Minister of Finance, received the Cabinet’s approval today for a supplemental allocation of 40 million pounds for the fiscal year 1957-58.

Meanwhile United States Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson is slated to arrive here tomorrow to discuss with top Israeli government figures Israel’s application to the U.S. for $25 million in surplus foodstuffs. It is not yet known whether Secretary Benson will confer, as scheduled with Premier David Ben Gurion who is still in a hospital recovering from injuries suffered in last week’s grenade attack in Parliament.

Israel s exports during the past ten months rose 50 million pounds over the same period of 1956. official statistics revealed here today Exports from January through October climbed to 208 300,000 pounds as compared to 159,700,000 during the first ten months of last year.
