Informed sources said here tonight that they still hesitated to consider the renewed radio attacks on Turkey from Moscow as indicating a full-scale resumption of the Communist offensive in the Middle East. The view was expressed here that the Kremlin had not yet reached a decision on its policy for the Middle East on the immediate future and there was speculation that a final decision on the Kremlin line would depend in no small measure on the outcome of talks now underway in Moscow between the Soviet rulers and Mao-Tse-Tung, Chinese Communist chief of state.
The belief was expressed here that the Soviet Union could not embark on a large-scale economic program for the Middle East, such as it has been promising Egypt and Syria, if it has to accede to Mao’s demands for vast financial and economic aid to continue China’s industrial development.
