Soviet Communist Party boss Nikita Khrushchev renewed his charges today that the United States was inciting Israel and Turkey to attack Syria. He told a special session of the Supreme Soviet, held to mark the 40th anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, that “the Americans are plotting against Syria and inciting Israel and Turkey to provocations.”
The Russian dictator renewed his call for a “high level meeting of representatives of capitalist and Socialist countries so as to reach agreement on excluding war as a means of solving political questions.” He blamed the West for keeping the world constantly on the edge of war. He pledged the USSR would not use “means of destruction” unless attacked.
