Funeral services were held here today for Mrs. Morris Cariton Troper, wife of the JDC leader, who died suddenly last Thursday evening at the annual dinner meeting of the Joint Distribution Committee at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel, a few minutes after her husband collapsed from a stomach disorder.
Mr. Troper, brigadier general in the U.S. Army during World War II, recovered but his wife thought he had been fatally stricken, “If he goes, we want to go together she shouted in despair. A few minutes later she died. She was active in JDC work since World War I and in the program of the New York Federation of Jewish Philanthropies in Hungary 60 years ago and came to this country in her early youth.
