The U.S. Government today received reports from the Middle East describing the injection of anti-Jewish propaganda into the Arab League outcry against France in connection with recent events in Algeria and Tunisia.

Cairo’s Voice of the Arabs has broadcast in Arabic that “most of the French parachutists under General Mazu, commander of the French parachutist division in Algeria, are either French or Algerian Jews.” The Egyptian propaganda alleged that Jews are playing an important role in French actions against Moslem nationalists in North Africa.

One Arab report charged that the Israeli Government asked French and Algerian Jews to join French armed forces fighting against the nationalist rebels. This type of propaganda was increased after the French air bombing of the Tunisian village of Sakiet Sidi Youssef last Saturday. It originates mainly in Cairo.
