Plans for the opening of a Menorah Institute to provide religious training for teachers of secular subjects in American yeshivoth were announced here yesterday at the annual conference of the Religious Zionists of America (formerly Mizrachi and Labor Mizrachi Organizations of America). A fund-raising goal of $150,000 to make possible the opening of the school in New York by the fall semester was announced by the National Council for Torah Education.

The RZA reported that it had raised $1,000,000 for its religious, educational and cultural activities in Israel, had sold $1,000,000 in Israel bonds and raised $100,000 for the Jewish National Fund’s land reclamation projects. It announced that three plane tours would be sponsored by the organization in connection with the tenth anniversary celebrations of Israel’s independence and that leading members of the RZA would participate in the simultaneous dedication and opening of the Israel Chief Rabbinate’s new religious center in Jerusalem May 8.
