More than one-third of the resorts in Michigan which had previously been found practicing discrimination against Jews have apparently stopped discriminating, the B’nai B’rith Anti Defamation League reported today on the basis of a survey. The other two-thirds still either reject applications from Jewish guests, or do not respond at all to such applications.

Michigan has a law prohibiting discrimination and discriminatory advertising by resorts. Commenting on the results of its survey, the ADL said: “It appears that Michigan has made great strides in eliminating resort discrimination.’ At the same time, the survey shows the need for more rigid enforcement of the law against resort discrimination, and a clear interpretation from the attorney general’s office as to what constitutes discriminatory advertising.”
