A resolution passed by both houses of the New York State Legislature congratulating the State of Israel on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, was presented this morning to Israel’s Consul General Simcha Pratt.

The resolution, the first such declaration concerning a foreign nation passed by the New York Legislature in more than 50 years, was presented to the Consul General by Assemblyman Samuel Bonom and Kings County Clerk Joseph Whitty.

The Legislature, in passing the resolution, noted that the State of Israel represented “the one solid bastion of democracy in an area of the world in which feudalism and dictatorship are rampant.”

Mr. Pratt expressed the gratitude of Israel’s people for the friendship and support of their American friends and told the representatives of the law making body that the inscribed resolution would be transmitted to President Itzhak Ben Zvi in Jerusalem.
