The Ministry of the Interior has ordered a passport held by Ludwig Zind, suspended local high school teacher, withdrawn to prevent his departure abroad “to make anti-Semitic propaganda.”
Zind is currently free pending an appeal against a prison sentence imposed by a local court which found him guilty of publicly libelling the Jews and maligning the memory of the Jews murdered by the Nazis. Witnesses testified that he had expressed the view that Hitler had not gassed enough Jews.
More than 3,000 German youths assembled at Bergen Belsen to participate in memorial services on the site of the former Nazi death camp. The pilgrimage was organized by the Society of Christians and Jews and the Anne Frank Group.
