Three prizes for the best literary works in Yiddish and in Hebrew that appeared in 1957 were announced here today by the Louis Lamed Foundation. Each prize is worth $500. One Yiddish prize–for poetry–was divided between Aaron Glantz-Leyeles and Aaron Zeitlin. Another Yiddish prize for short stories went to Rachel Korn. The winner of the Hebrew prize is Dr. S. Federbush for a book on the Talmud.
The sum of $500, originally intended for another Hebrew prize, will be used for the publication of an Hebrew book to be recommended by the Hebrew Pen Club. The jury consisted of Leibush Lerer, noted Jewish educator; Abraham Tabachnick, essayist and poet; and M. Feinstein, Hebrew educator and poet. Dr. S. Margoshes is chairman of the LaMed Foundation.
