Contributions and pledges totalling $1,250,000 toward the regular and emergency campaigns of the 1958 United Jewish Appeal was raised here tonight at a dinner of the UJA of Greater New York under the auspices of the National Jewish Welfare Board. Three hundred guests attended the function.

Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel, newly-elected president of the JWB, described the manifold JWB programs and their effect on the contemporary social scene. The JWB-affiliated community centers, he noted, present a good program to combat juvenile delinquency, while the JWB’s religious program is a powerful “morale missile” for Jews in the United States armed forces.
