The Chicago Council of the American Jewish Congress reported today that the item “race” here after will not appear on Uniform Traffic Tickets and Complaints used by the Illinois State Police against traffic offenders.

The action by Joseph D. Bibb, director of the Illinois Department of Public Safety, followed an inquiry by the Chicago Council on why such a question was needed for law enforcement. Supt. William Morris of the State Highway Police replied that the item did not “serve any particular use” and that the State Police would have no objection to eliminating the item.
