An Israel delegate, speaking in Hebrew, told the national conference of the German Social Democratic Party here that the under-developed countries of Asia and Africa needed economic assistance. But the Israeli, Knesset member Dr. Herzl Berger, representing the Mapai Party, warned that care should be taken in extending this aid not to support dictatorships over democratic countries.

Representatives of the Socialist movement in 30 countries were present at the conference. Erich Ollenhauer, leader of the party, in his general policy-making speech, spoke warmly of Israel and of its great “Socialist” achievements. He expressed the hope that Israel would be able to continue its development in liberty and peace.
