An Israel offer, through diplomatic channels, to supply Jordan with Salk vaccine in the face of a rising polio rate in Western Jordan has been refused “with thanks,” it was learned here today. The Israel offer was made after reports that the Jordan Government had requested an American airlift to rush vaccine.
At the same time, Israel and Jordan today concluded a broad agreement for the control of malaria breeding mosquitoes along the entire length of their common border. The agreement, reached in a medical subcommittee of the Mixed Armistice Commission, provides for Israeli and Jordanian teams, accompanied by UN observers, to spray DDT and other insecticides in six major danger areas along the border.
