An estimated three million Jews attended various “typical Jewish performances” in the Soviet Union during the past year, according to a report published here today in Etudes Sovietique, a Soviet propaganda organ.
The information, designed to answer criticisms published in the French press of the suppression of Jewish cultural life in the Soviet Union, was attributed to Soviet Deputy Minister of Education Danilov. The report also described a concert of Jewish music recently given in Moscow which it said had been well-attended.
