Despite the severe economic recession in the United States, which has affected American Jewry as much as any other element of the population, there are no signs of a serious decline in United Jewish Appeal receipts this year, Rabbi Herbert Friedman, UJA executive vice president, told a press conference here today.
Rabbi Friedman said that receipts to date indicated no more of a drop than 10 percent or $8,000,000 from last year’s campaign contributions. This he called a “miraculous situation” at the half-way mark in the 1958 drive.
