The first parade with a Sefer Torah in New York City took place today when members of the Radio City Synagogue marched from the house of worship to the Israel Consulate more than a mile away to present the Scroll to the people of Israel. The Scroll was accepted by Simcha Pratt, Israel’s Consul General in New York.

The Sefer Torah was contributed in response to a world call issued by the Israel Ministry of Religious Affairs to Jewish communities to provide the new communities and houses of worship in Israel with hard-to-get Scrolls. This one will be flown to Israel,
