Trial will begin soon of Wilhelm Unkelbach, a Hesse truck driver accused of the killing of 30 Jewish men, women and children, in Czhenstochow Poland, during the Nazi regime, the prosecutor’s office announced here. The indictment asserted that the crimes were not committed on order but only because the defendant “enjoyed killing.”
Unkelbach, who served as a policeman during the Nazi control of Poland, has been detained since last October when an Israeli came to Germany and located him. The prosecutor’s office said 18 witnesses from various countries will be called when the trial begins in Hanau Jury Court.
