The Consultative Council of Jewish Organizations announced today it had been granted consultative status by the Council of Europe at Strass-bourg, the first Jewish non-governmental organization to receive such status.

The CCJO is comprised of the Alliance Israelite Universelle of France, the American Jewish Committee and the Anglo-Jewish Association of England. The accreditation permits the CCJO to submit its views on matters before committees of the Council of Europe and provides that the Council can seek CCJO guidance on Jewish issues.
